Lee Roy Selmon has a background that is a combination of family scholarships football and community service. He was the youngest son of Lucious Selmon and Jessie Selmon. They had him raised on their farm in Eufala. Second football he was one of three brothers who were players for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. The year was 1973. Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's best lineman. In three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy as the starter. The team also took home two national championships. A third scholarship saw him named as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon holds a bachelor's degree in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout college. In Tampa the Buccaneers, he was a player for the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. He also began his career in the field of business. The first position he held was an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank, Tampa. In the past, he worked on the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him as one of the country's top 10 young males. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and was a tall of 6-2. In his time at for college, he was the head coach of the 1975 team. In 1993, he became the assistant director of Athletics at the University of South Florida. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame was named for the player in 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Selmons' parents Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation.
