Lee Roy Selmon's existence includes football scholarships, family involvement as well as community involvement. The first is the Selmon relatives. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. He and his wife raised nine children on a Eufala farm. Second football he was the third brother who were players for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the most offensive lineman in the United States by Outland and Lombardi Awards. He was awarded two championships as well as the score was 32-1-1 over his three seasons as the Oklahoma's starting linebacker. In 1975, he received his third scholarship and was recognized as an National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon received his bachelor's diploma in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer hours per week during his time in college. In Tampa the Buccaneers, he was a player for the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. Also, he began a career in business. He began his career in 1988. was working as an Account Relations Officer for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was not a surprise when In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of the 10 young stars across the nation. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch higher and weighing in at 256 pounds in college as a player, captained his team for the year 1975. In 1993, Roy was a part of the university of south Florida's sports department as the Director of Athletics as an associate. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988, and the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon Sr. The award ceremony was conducted by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
