Anna Paquin is a Canadian and New Zealand actress. Paquin, who was raised in Wellington however was born and raised in Winnipeg became an actor in The Piano. At age 11 years old, she became the youngest Academy Award winner ever for Best Actress. They moved with their family into New Zealand when she was just a baby and lived there for the rest of her life. In response to an open request for auditions her name was picked in the role of Flora McGrath, the daughter of a deaf Scottish piano player who moved to New Zealand in mid-19th-century to get married. The actress was just nineteen and did not have any prior experience in acting. When she was a teen she emigrated from New Zealand to United States. Paquin was cast as the child character in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre in 1996. The actress also had an important role in Fly Away Home, a film from that same year. Paquin portrayed Frankie Addams, a character from Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In addition, she played queen of Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (2007). She portrayed teenagers in Hurlyburly (1998) She's All That (1999) and A Walk on the Moon (1999) and portrayed the groupie Polexia Aphrodisa as a character in Almost Famous (2000).
